Quartet will play for Labasa: Sharma February 12, 2012
By Sunil Sharma
There is a new twist to the Labasa Football Association controversy surrounding the suspension of four key players.
After the four players, namely Ilisoni Logaivou, Taione Kerevanua, Kavaia Rawaqa and Amani Makoe failed to turn up to answer charges to the Labasa FA disciplinary committee yesterday, LFA Secretary Mohammed Faiyaz had said fresh and harsh charges will be laid on the quartet as their absence was another sign of indiscipline and brought disrepute to the sport and the association.
However, president Ajesh Sharma today told Fijilive that Faiyaz has been acting unprofessionally and will be suspended from tomorrow.
" He has acted unprofessionally and the decision made on suspending players has brought disrepute between officials and players," he said.
“As Labasa FA president I can assure the four players that they are still eligible to play football at all level and there is no suspension in place."
"Few officials have made a mockery of Labasa soccer but I am adamant about getting things back on track before the start of the Fiji Sun/ GP Batteries National Football League”
Sharma also added that the four players have withdrawn their release application and will represent the Babasiga Lions this season.
